| We live in the jet age, aviation has changed the world. There are few people who have not taken a flight somewhere. The modern military depends on aircraft in a way that would have been unimaginable a century ago. Many people even spend there leisure time flying in light aircraft, just for fun. So it is no surprise that Wera as a company with an international reputation for the range and quality of its tools is now selling a range of its excellent fastening tools directly to those with an involvement in the aviation industry. With planes flying at phenomenal speeds and breathtaking altitudes safety issues become an even greater concern than they would be for any other form of transport. Another important factor is the extreme strain speed and altitude can put on an aircrafts structure and, of course, the fasteners holding the whole thing together. The costs of operating aircraft are also high, the whole time an aircraft is on the ground and not doing its job it is costing its operator money. Wera identified these problems and realised that its products were the ideal solution, offering the best performance, getting the job done well, safely and fast. Indeed Wera is confident that its tools are more than capable of taking on products that are established in the aviation industry and out perform them. Which is why it has produced its MRO Support Tool Program catalogue. One example Wera gives in the catalogue of a product it produces that is ideal for the aviation sector is its TORQ-SET® Mplus screwdriver bits. These superb and innovative patented bits feature a unique geometry that enables them to give a better fit to the screws and deliver higher torque transfer, and less camout. Mplus bits are particulary good for removing screws that are not in perfect condition and may be filled with paint.. they also feature Weras patented diamond coating, which is available on many Wera bits. It gives the bits extra grip on the screw head, which helps to lessen cam-out and because it helps hold the bit in place means the users dont have to use unnecessary effort pushing on the back of the tool to keep it engaged in the screw. Weras originality in providing quality solutions to fastening problems is also evident in its precision milled bits created for Phillips screws. Because these have a milled profile and not the forged type that is more typical the Wera product has a far better grip on screws that already have a covering of paint, and it delivers far more torque during removal or fastening, which means less damage to the screw. Wera has developed its products and its reputation over many years, its Kraftform® handle is well known and has come to stand for Wera quality and innovation to its many users since it was first introduced in 1968. It is these qualities that Wera knows make it the perfect manufacturer with the perfect product for the Aerospace industry, as it has proved to be for many other industies. The company holds over 300 national and international patent registrations, it also has many pending patents, all of which proves the companys commitment to innovation. It is this commitment that drives the German based family owned business and all of its 600 employees in Germany, the UK, the USA, Canada, Spain, Singapore and the Czech republic. The core of Weras range is of course its extensive selection of bits, all made to meet the toughest demands of the toughest industries, delivering high torque and a long life. Wera introduced its torsion bits to the market in 1989, these work by diverting torque peaks into the Torsion zone of the bit, reducing the strain where the bit surface meets the screw, lengthening the life of the bit. The BiTorsion® system takes this approach one step further, with a softer Torsion zone to absorb kinetic energy during use. A BiTorsion bit holder is also available which also has a Torsion zone, increasing the benefits even further. Bitorsion bits and holder can also be used independently of each other. Beyond drill bits Wera has many other products that it feels are ideal for aviation use. These include its L-keys, which, as your would expect, deliver higher torque than other similar products. They achieve this through the use of material specially selected by Wera and by unique hardening techniques. They also feature the special hex-plus design, which gives them an increased contact area, this reduces the notching effect in the hex screw, in effect stopping the hexagon shaped socket in the screw becoming more like a circle after it has been fastened and loosened a few times. As well as creating its unbeatable bits Wera has created some of the best tools available to use them with. Featuring the companys familiar two colour, two material, ergonomically designed handles. Especially good for the aerospace industry, as they are for any number of other industries, are the companys torque tools. These are breathtakingly accurate, with a precision that ensures damaged screw heads and costly drilling and re-tapping are not a problem. They also have an easy to read scale. The product that everyone now thinks of when they hear the name Wera is Kraftform Kompakt. These handy sets, containing an ideal mix of bits with a Kraftform handle, are all put together to give technicians the ideal mix of bits they need, for both manual and power screwdriving all in one handy set. All these Wera products are ideal for Aerospace use, not because they were originally designed for that use, but because the very high standard of Wera products means that they are ideally suited to an industry that has to have tools of the highest standard. Which is why whatever you need it for you can be sure Wera has the ideal fastening tool for you. |
