One of the keys to success that all the businesses that feature on these pages have in common is attention to the customer, both in terms of the products they need and the service offered. Consolidated Industrial Supplies Ltd offers the customer a range of products that would be difficult to rival, and the service available makes the company an object lesson on what is possible.
Consolidated Industrial Supplies Ltd (CISL), the UK subsidiary of Consolidated Tools International Ltd, prides itself in offering customers a unique Single Source Supply Contract. The company supplies a broad range of engineering and industrial product to a vast array of businesses of all sizes.
Consolidated Tools International Group was founded in 1984 by Paul Prescott with overseas Offices & subsidiary companies in Spain and Venezuela.
In 1988 CISL was founded in the UK and found its services were immediately in demand. The growth of the CISL was such that in 1991 the company purchased 2.5 acres on Brackla Industrial Estate, Bridgend, and as business continued to increase it expanded and relocated into its own designed and purpose built premises on the site a year later.
Throughout the nineties the company’s success story continued and it continued to grow, acquiring Newport Engineering Supplies in 1998.
In 2000 CISL took what for so many companies is an essential step and joined the national buying consortium THS Tools Group, so making it easier to offer customers the widest range of products, quickly and at reasonable prices.
By 2001 it had acquired Anglo American Adhesives of Cheshire and in 2006 Achieved ISO 90012000 Accreditation.

Founder Paul Prescott has recently taken a back seat and has handed over the running of the company to his daughter Joanna Prescott who is the Commercial Manager for Consolidated Industrial Supplies Ltd.
The company’s unique position of specialising in Single Source Contracts is, unsurprisingly, one of the main attractions that draws the company’s many clients to use it.
There are many advantages to the single source supply approach, and CISL’s customers will attest that it greatly simplifies the projects they are involved in.
With a CISL Single Source contract line items are agreed and then supplied regularly and consistently as agreed, for the client this means no break in production, in other word an end to call offs. For the client the result is a reduction in the time spent completing a project, and less money spent overall.
Another option that can greatly reduce hassle for clients of CISL is its consignment stock service, which the company describes as Single Source Contract with a Difference.
With this approach all agreed line items are kept at pre-arranged stock levels on the customer’s premises. Because CISL takes all responsibility for maintaining these stock levels and performs regular stock checks (e.g. weekly, monthly) as agreed to ‘top up’ any used stock, the customer can relax knowing that if an item is needed on site it will be there.
In fact consignment stock not only guarantees no break in production it also reduces customer costs of purchasing and stock management. Although stock is kept at a constant level the Customer is only invoiced for the stock used, not for all the stock kept on premises, making it the most cost effective solution to stocking a project.
Because CISL is a member of THS it is able to offer its customers even greater value because the group’s buying Power further guarantees reduced costs on quality products.
One of the reasons CISL is able to offer such a comprehensive service is the size of its standard product range which features 38,000 line items with over 80,000 actually supplied.
The product range spans everything including tooling items such as cutting tools, power tools, air tools, hand tools, garden tools, welding products, abrasives, cutting and grinding discs and saw blades.
CISL can also meet its customer needs for paints and chemicals, lubricants, oils and greases.
As with any modern tool related business PPE & workwear is an important part of the offering with a wide selection of safety shoes & Boots, lots of other clothing including office wear such as Oxford shirts and blouses and Hi Visibility and weatherproof workwear. There is also a full selection of eye, hand and ear protection, including Prescription eyewear.
CISL can also customise clothing with Embroidery and In-house Heat transfer logos.
In fact because of the comprehensive service CISL provides it really does supply every kind of product you could imagine including signage and Safety Equipment, storage and handling Equipment, poly bags, spillage control, packaging materials, bubble wrap, pallet wrap, tapes, boxes, and janitorial and cleaning equipment.
As well as being able to supply top brand adhesives CISL also has the facility to purpose manufacture in-house adhesives, including UV cure adhesives for the glass industry, epoxies and anaerobic adhesives for trade and industry.
It isn’t just that CISL provide a massive range of equipment, but also, like all THS members, they are also able to offer the best brands for the best value. Brands like: Bosch, Makita, Karcher, Gurhing, Bott, St Gobain, Dickies, Numatic, 3M Products, Hammerite, Draper.
With the company’s 17 years experience of facilities management CSIL’s trained and motivated staff are a crucial element of its success. They enable the company to deliver on its promise that any organisation that places its trust and business in CSI’s hands can be guaranteed total commitment and rapid, accurate solutions to all its business problems.
CISL develops and refines individual systems with each customer, and is able to offer them guaranteed savings in purchasing and supply. As the company says it is big enough to achieve and small enough to care.
