| Lee Garth Tools was founded 27 years ago by Eric Lee and David Bowker and is located in Wheatley Doncaster, quite close to Doncaster Robin Hood Airport, which was formally known as Finningley air base the former home of the RAF Vulcan Bomber; this site has proved to be a massive development opportunity for Doncaster. David Bowker was originally a builder and developer and came into contact with Eric Lee through the game of golf, both being members of the Wheatley Golf club and also through the trade with Eric working at David W News the main tool distributor for Doncaster. With Erics 20 plus years of experience Lee Garth thrived in the early years, Eric who sadly died last year aged 72 retired in 2003 and Davids son Nigel Bowker, who has been involved in the business for 17 years, purchased his shares. David closed his building business in 2000 to concentrate on LEE GARTH. Nigel Bowker and Ian Barker manage the company on a day-to-day basis. 1993 a year to remember for Lee Garth Tools they were invited to join the prestigious buying group of T.H.S, a group with over 100 members and suppliers, giving them the advantage of dealing with all of the major suppliers for Power tools for example Makita, Dewalt, Festool and many more along with the major hand tools Stanley, Draper, Sealy, Silverline and G&J Hall. With the benefit that this provides and the massive construction that has taken place in the Doncaster area Lee Garth has grown from strength to strength. Along with its comprehensive service department Lee Garth Tools takes pride in being part of the service industry that meets this particular need and are proud of their slogan: Our aim is to supply everyone from the local handyman to tradesman with everything from toilet rolls to servicing items for the aviation industry. No order is too large or small. The company aims at first class service in Doncaster and the surrounding areas. Lee Garth Tools have specific ideas about advertising and feels that local papers, for example, do not deliver to their target audience and they now have a series of adverts running on Trax FM, a local radio station. The company has developed a reputation for special seasonal messages combined with a witty delivery that ensures a steady stream of visitors to the Lee Garth showroom. In addition to radio advertising Lee Garth also advertises on the back of buses in the city to ensure a visible presence throughout the day. Although the company was originally founded and grew to strength based on engineering tools and equipment, with the decline of engineering in Doncaster the company has had to change with the times stocking a more varied range of hand tools and consumables, including such necessities as toilet rolls, paper towels and other service sector requirements which are happily stocked and delivered by Lee Garth along with traditional tool requisites. The company has seen a massive growth in safety related items in recent years which are critically important in an era dominated by health and safety considerations. The loss of time on a work site that can be created by inadequate attention to health and safety is inestimable. It is not simply the need to ensure correct safety and protection equipment is used, it is important that any site is properly managed so that no time is lost due to random health and safety inspections, such that workers are thrown off site for being in breach of regulations. Lee Garth Tools pride themselves with the fact that they have stocks and expertise to match the needs of modern industry. |
