The Jackdaw-Dinstock Tools Group comprises two closely linked companies, Jackdaw and Dinstock Ltd.
The Jackdaw Group began in Willenhall in the heart of the lock industry in 1964, and it has developed into one of the main specialists for cutting tools, hand tools, abrasives and power tools in the West Midlands.
With its main sales showroom and warehouse still based in the heart of Willenhall, it caters for over 40,000 product lines, with specialist in-house power tool repairs, tool & cutter CNC grinding facilities and special carbide tooling.
The current Managing Director, Stephen Pearson, who is the eldest son of Jackdaw’s founder Gordon Pearson, is continuing the expansion of Jackdaw’s services.

“This year has seen a major investment in upgrading our computer systems which covers every aspect of the companies stock, sales & accounting procedures.”
Jackdaw also specialises in ‘Single Source’ a stock consignment contract business, which shows major savings to many of its larger clients. By eliminating the need to purchase stock for everyday items, the products are monitored and maintained by Jackdaw’s own inventory system; this in turn will demonstrate substantial savings.
Open to the public, as well as the trade, Jackdaw Tools Ltd offers one of the widest choices of hand tools and consumable products, from hammers and drills, to safety clothing, boots, lubricants and abrasives -all at discount prices.
Dinstock Ltd was formed in 1996, by its current Managing Director, Robert Pearson, who is the younger son of Jackdaw’s founder.
From just an initial single unit on the Hortonwood Estate, located opposite the main UK Makita factory in Telford, it has expanded into both of the adjacent units, now totalling over 20,000sq.ft.
With Dinstock joining the Jackdaw Tools Group in 1998, it has continued to expand its tool distribution business to become the main hand & power tool specialist in the region.
Its dedicated tool showroom has now been extended to house probably the largest range of power tools and accessories in the UK. Extended ranges include Makita, Draper, Bosch, and Hitachi power tools, as well as Trend Routing and Draper hand tools. With the added advantage of the additional 40,000 plus lines of quality branded products available from Jackdaw’s stock. Dinstock can offer nearly 100 per cent of its catalogued items for immediate delivery.
Dinstock offers an unrivalled service to local industry, with multiple daily deliveries throughout Telford and Shropshire on its own transport, and nationally, via a next-day courier. The new showroom at Dinstock boasts probably the largest range of Makita products in the UK, with more than 7,000 sq ft of displayed tools and equipment, it is an Aladdin’s Cave for the tool user, professional and DIY enthusiast alike.

Dinstock’s core business is still however, fixings & fastenings. With in house manufacturing capable of producing hexagon bolts as large as 76mm diameter from stock, and machine screws as small as 3mm diameter, they can honestly say there is ‘nothing’ they can’t offer.
The new addition of a CNC machining centre has also increased the ability to offer precision bespoke fasteners to order, up to 100mm diameter. With more than 500 tonnes of finished bolting on the shelf, standards are catered for in-depth and specials machined normally on a next-day basis.
